US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Freshouse II, LLC, a Salisbury, North Carolina establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Valencia Oranges, Lemons, Limes, Organic Limes and Red B Potatoes from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risk of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Fruits and Vegetables are subject to this recall:

  • Freshouse branded Limes, sold in two (2) pound mesh bags with trace numbers of 174618, 174570, 174571 or 174572, batch/lot/ numbers of 16444003, 16444603 or 16444703 and a UPC of 33383 14683
  • Natures Promise branded Organic Limes, sold in one (1) pound mesh bags with a batch/lot/trace number of 174375, a batch/lot/ number of X0174375 and a UPC of 88267 53813
  • Fresh from the Start branded Red B Potatoes, sold in three (3) pound mesh bags with batch/lot/trace numbers of 174575, 174403 or 174595, batch/lot/ numbers of 16475401, 16453501 or 16475401 and a UPC of 33383 51003
  • Fresh from the Start branded Lemons, sold in two (2) pound mesh bags with batch/lot/trace numbers of 174551 or 174552, batch/lot/ numbers of 16453103 or 16415302 and a UPC of 33383 14020
  • Wegmans branded Lemons, sold in two (2) pound mesh bags with a batch/lot/ number of 16453103 and a UPC of 77890 15917
  • Wegmans branded Valencia Oranges, sold in four (4) pound mesh bags with a batch/lot/ number of 16415104 and a UPC of 77890 52363

==> No best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after the company’s routine internal testing identified Listeria monocytogenes on a piece of equipment in one of its packing facilities. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Fruits and Vegetables identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Fruits and Vegetables, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the products to the store or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.
