According to the CPSC, flue gas can escape from the recalled Gas Boilers if the Vent Adapter is not securely reattached to the Boiler after maintenance or repair. If this defect occurs, it poses a Carbon Monoxide poisoning hazard to home dwellers, especially those who are very young, elderly and those with compromised respiratory function such as people with Asthma or COPD.

The firm has received one (1) report of a death from Carbon Monoxide poisoning associated with the recalled boilers in 2016 following a repair in which the required adapter was not reattached. The firm has also received two (2) other reports of Vent Tube Adapter separation from the recalled Boilers. It is not known if injuries or deaths were the result in these events.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Condensing Gas Boilers, please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact Triangle Tube to schedule a free in-home repair. Home owners or dwellers who continue using the Condensing Gas Boilers while awaiting repair must have working Carbon Monoxide alarms on each level of their homes and outside sleeping areas. Home owners and/or dwellers who do not have a Carbon Monoxide alarm can contact Triangle Tube to have one shipped to them free of charge.

Do not operate any of these Gas Boilers until you can be assured they pose no danger. Always have a formal Occupant Alert and Evacuation Plan in place and practiced once a month for any home, especially if there are children, seniors and/or family pets present in the dwelling. Ensure house guests are also advised of these procedures.

Please note: this is a joint recall from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) and Health Canada (“HCSC”).

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Carbon Monoxide poisoning.
