US FlagUS/Washington: Jamaican Tastee Patties LLC, a Miami, Florida establishment, recalls an estimated 60,457 pounds of Authentic Jamaican Style branded Tastee Meat and Poultry Patty products that were reportedly repackaged, relabeled and redistributed without the benefit of federal inspection with consequential risks of bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Meat and Poultry Patty products manufactured on various dates ranging from September 2018 through July 2020 as follows:

  • Authentic Jamaican Style Tastee Patties Jerk Chicken Turnovers Baked, 18-ounce boxes containing four (4) pieces of Chicken Turnovers with various sell-by dates
  • Authentic Jamaican Style Tastee Patties Beef Turnovers Spicy Beef Baked, 18-ounce boxes containing four (4) pieces of Beef Turnovers with various sell-by dates
  • Jamaican Style Tastee Patties Turnovers Curry Chicken Baked, 18-ounce boxes containing four (4) pieces of Curry Chicken with various sell-by dates
  • Authentic Jamaican Style Tastee Patties Beef Turnovers Mild Beef Baked, 18-ounce boxes containing four (4) pieces of Beef Turnovers with various sell-by dates
  • Authentic Jamaican Style Tastee Patties Beef Turnovers Spicy Beef Unbaked, 112-ounce (7-pound) cases containing twenty-four (24) pieces of Beef Turnovers with various sell-by dates
  • Authentic Jamaican Style Tastee Patties Beef Turnovers Mild Beef Unbaked, 112-ounce (7-pound) cases containing twenty-four (24) pieces of Beef Turnovers with various sell-by dates

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 2390” or “P-2390” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items are known to have been shipped to retail and restaurant locations in Florida.

The problem was discovered during routine surveillance activities of the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”). These activities determined that the firm repackaged the Beef and Chicken Patty products without the benefit of federal inspection and used the mark of inspection from another establishment without authorization.

Due to these apparent defects, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Authentic Jamaican Style branded Tastee Meat and Poultry Patty products identified above.

The FSIS is concerned that some Authentic Jamaican Style branded Tastee Meat and Poultry Patty products may be in your refrigerators or freezers. If you have purchased any of these Meat products withing the last three (3) years you are urged not to consume them. Instead, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Authentic Jamaican Style branded Tastee Meat and Poultry Patty products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
