Additional information:

Among the fifty-two (52) recalls the NHTSA announced this July comes news of the following:

Logo - Blue Bird Body CompanyBlue Bird Body Company (“Blue Bird”), a Fort Valley, Georgia establishment, has recalled an estimated 3,532 model year 2018-2021 All-American and 2019-2021 Vision School Buses marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Seat Belts – Missing Seat Belt Anchorage Washers in suspected contravention of FMVSS 210

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V409000 reports that the three-point Seat Belt Assembly in the recalled School Buses may have been installed without reinforcing washers under the floor at the anchorage point, possibly preventing the Assembly from remaining anchored in the event of a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 210, “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages.”

According to the NHTSA, in the event of a crash, MVA or other impact event, Seat Belt Anchorages that do not remain secured increase the risk of injury to those seat occupants with consequential injury and/or life-changing results.

Blue Bird will notify registered owners, and dealers will inspect the Seat Belt Anchorage Point Hardware and install any missing hardware as needed, free of charge. This recall is expected to begin September 11, 2020.

Owners may contact Blue Bird Customer Service toll-free at 1-478-822-2242 normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). Blue Bird’s designation for this recall is R20AX.
