US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Whole Foods Market, an Austin, Texas establishment and subsidiary of Seattle, Washington-based Amazon.com recalls certain batch/lots of Kouign-Amann Pastries from the American marketplace due to undeclared Egg, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Baked Goods are subject to this recall:

  • Whole Foods Market branded Kouign-Amann Pastries, sold in 4-pack plastic clamshell packages with Whole Foods Market scale labels, a PLU code of 267394 and a sell through date of July 27, 2020.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, reports the recalled Pastries were distributed in the bakery department of selected Whole Foods Market stores in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Texas and Utah.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Kouign-Amann Pastries and could be allergic to their Egg ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
