Logo - Toyota Motor Engineering & ManufacturingToyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (“Toyota”), a Plano, Texas establishment and subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation, a Toyota City, Japan establishment, has recalled an estimated 183,397 model year 2018-2020 Toyota Tundra vehicles equipped with LED headlight assemblies marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Electrical System, Exterior Lighting – Turn Signals are not bright enough in suspected contravention of FMVSS 108

Logo - Toyota TundraNHTSA Safety Notification 20V410000 reports that due to a wiring error, the Front Turn Signals in the recalled Toyota Tundra vehicles may not flash brightly enough. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (“FMVSS”) number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

According to the NHTSA, if the Turn Signals or Hazard Lamps do not flash brightly enough, other drivers may fail to see that the turn signal or hazard lamp functions have been activated, increasing the risk of a crash, MVA or other impact event with consequential injury and/or life-changing results.

Toyota will notify registered owners, and dealers will modify the wire harness connected to the Front Turn Signal Bulbs free of charge. This recall is expected to begin by September 13, 2020.

Owners may also contact Toyota Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-270-9371 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). Toyota’s designation for this recall is 20TB12/20TA12.
