US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Whole Foods Market Red Velvet Cheesecake Recall [US]Whole Foods Market, an Austin, Texas establishment and subsidiary of Seattle, Washington-based Amazon.com recalls certain batch/lots of Carrot Cake Layered Cheesecake products labeled as Whole Foods Market branded Red Velvet Layered Cheesecake from the American marketplace and marketed, sold and delivered at 36 retail location of Whole Foods Market Stores in California, Idaho, and Nevada due to suspected mislabeling/mispackaging and consequential undeclared Walnuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Baked Goods are subject to this recall:

  • Carrot Cake Layered Cheesecake mistakenly labeled as Whole Foods Market branded Red Velvet Cheesecake Slices, sold in hard plastic clamshells in one-quarter pound (~250 gram) portions with a PLU code of 78620

Logo - Whole Foods Market==> No barcodes, UPCs, DINs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, the affected products were sold in the bakery department of select Whole Foods Market stores in California, Boise, Idaho, and Reno, Nevada. The product was sold by the slice in plastic clamshell containers with Whole Foods Market scale labels, a PLU code of 78620 and product sell-by dates through July 1, 2020. All affected Cheesecake products has been removed from store shelves. No allergic reactions have been reported to date.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Carrot Cake Layered Cheesecake mistakenly labeled as Whole Foods Market branded Red Velvet Cheesecake Slices and could be allergic to their Walnut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
