Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Smart Dollar Tamworth, a Tamworth, New South Wales establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Funny Crab Plastic Toys from the Australian marketplace due to suspected failure to meet the requirements of Australia’s mandatory standard ‘Consumer Protection Notice No. 14 of 2003 – Consumer Product Safety Standard: Toys for children up to and including 36 months of age’, suspected component detachment and the release of small parts with consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Children’s Toys are subject to this recall:

  • Funny Crab Plastic Toys, sold with a Smart Dollar item number of 37748 and a barcode of 9885456377485

==> No best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the ACCC, these Toy products do not meet the requirements of Australia’s mandatory standard ‘Consumer Protection Notice No. 14 of 2003 – Consumer Product Safety Standard: Toys for children up to and including 36 months of age’. As a result of this reported defect, the Toys may break and releasing small parts, choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration hazards.

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Children’s Toys, please do not let your child play with or near them. Instead, kindly return the Toy product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
