UK FlagUK/London: Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation, a Waco, Texas establishment, recalls an estimated 59,800 pounds of Pilgrim’s Fully Cooked Chicken Breast Nugget products from the American marketplace due to suspected rubber fragment contamination and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Fully Cooked Chicken Breast Nuggets were manufactured on May 6, 2020 and are subject to this recall:

  • Pilgrim’s Fully Cooked Chicken Breast Nuggets, sold in four (4)-pound plastic bag packages with a best-by date code of 06 MAY 2021 and a batch/lot code of 0127. The product case codes have batch/lot code designation of 0127105009, 0127105010, 0127105011, 0127105012, 0127105013, 0127105014, 0127105015 or 0127105016.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, DINs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the USDA, the products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-20728” printed on individual retail packages as well as product cases. These items are known to have been shipped to retail locations in Arizona, Idaho, Oregon and Texas.

The problem was discovered after the firm received a consumer complaint reporting rubber pieces in the Chicken Breast Nugget products. Consequently, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Chicken products identified above.

In general, if plastic or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

Please note: while these Chicken products may be close to or past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.
