UK FlagUK/London: Primula Limited, a Gateshead, Tyne and Wear establishment, updates its existing recall for all current Primula Cheese Tubes (chilled and ambient) from the British marketplace to include additional date information.

The original recall was initiated due to suspected risk of Clostridium botulinum contamination and consequential risk of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Cheese products are subject to recall:

  • Primula Plain Original Cheese Spread, sold in 150 gram tubes with best-before dates ranging from 25 December 2020 up to and including 28 January 2021
  • Primula Cheese Spread with Smoked Paprika, sold in 150 gram tubes with best-before dates ranging from 25 December 2020 up to and including 28 January 2021
  • Primula Cheese Spread with Jalapeno, sold in 150 gram tubes with best-before dates ranging from 25 December 2020 up to and including 28 January 2021
  • Primula Light Cheese Spread, sold in 150 gram tubes with best-before dates ranging from 25 December 2020 up to and including 28 January 2021
  • Primula Cheese Spread with Ham, sold in 150 gram tubes with best-before dates ranging from 25 December 2020 up to and including 28 January 2021
  • Primula Cheese Spread with Chive, sold in 150 gram tubes with best-before dates ranging from 25 December 2020 up to and including 28 January 2021
  • Primula Cheese Spread with Prawn, sold in 150 gram tubes with best-before dates ranging from 25 December 2020 up to and including 28 January 2021
  • Primula Original Cheese Spread (ambient), sold in 100 gram tubes with best-before dates ranging from 30 October 2020 up to and including 10 December 2020
  • Primula Cheese Spread with Ham (ambient), sold in 100 gram tubes with best-before dates ranging from 30 October 2020 up to and including 10 December 2020
  • Primula Cheese spread with Chives (ambient), sold in 100 gram tubes with best-before dates ranging from 30 October 2020 up to and including 10 December 2020

==> No barcodes, EANs, DINs, UPCs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FSA, Primula has recalled all current batch/lots of Primula Cheese Tubes because the product might be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum due to a production fault. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Cheese products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Primula Cheese Tubes, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Cheese to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat bacterial poisoning due to Botulism.
