US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Fresh Express, a Windermere, Florida establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Fresh Express branded Southwest Chopped Salad Kits from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and/or mispackaging and consequential undeclared Cashew Nuts, Celery, Coconut, Soy and Wheat, all known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Fresh Express branded Salads are subject to this recall:

  • Fresh Express branded Southwest Chopped Kits, sold in 11.5-ounce cello plastic bags with production codes G163B10A or G163B10B, a use-by date of June 29 and a UPC 0 71279 30602 5

==> No barcodes, DINs, item numbers, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated when Fresh Express learned that incorrect Condiment Packets were placed into Southwest Chopped Kit bags and, as a result, the allergens Cashews, Celery, Coconut, Soy and Wheat are not properly declared.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Salads and could be allergic to their Cashews, Celery, Coconut, Soy or Wheat ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

The recalled Salads were distributed between June 12, 2020 and June 18, 2020 in the states of Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. Fresh Express representatives are reportedly coordinating with retail stores, instructing them to remove the recalled product from store shelves and inventories.
