Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Leggo's Tuna Bake Pasta Sauce Recall [Australia]Simplot Australia Pty Ltd, a Mentone, Victoria establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Leggo’s Tuna Bake with Spinach & Garlic Pasta Sauce from the Australian marketplace due to suspected incorrect pH and consequential risk of Clostridium Botulinum, a Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Pasta Sauce products are subject to this recall:

  • Leggo’s Tuna Bake with Spinach & Garlic Pasta Sauce, sold in 500 gram glass bottles with a batch/lot code of 12164 and a best-before date code of 1 05 22

==> No barcodes, APNs, item numbers, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, regulatory approval designations, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the Sauce’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One additional image of the recalled Pasta Sauce products can be found on the Web site above.

According to the ACCC, this recall was initiated due to an incorrect pH level being detected in the Sauce. If this defect occurs, it has the potential for microbial growth. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Pasta Sauce products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Leggo’s Tuna Bake Pasta Sauce with Spinach & Garlic, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 0-0-0, your closest hospital or emergency centre equipped to properly treat bacterial poisoning such as Botulism.
