Additional information:
Among the forty three (43) recalls the NHTSA announced this June comes news of the following:
Maxon Lift Corp. (“Maxon”), a Santa Fe Springs, California establishment, has recalled an estimated 2,280 model year GPTLR and GPTWR Lift Gates that contain License Plate Kits sold with a part number of 298872-01 that includes Light part number 908120-01 marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.
Recall Category: Structure, Exterior Lighting – Lift Gate License Plate Light Alignment/FMVSS 108
NHTSA Safety Notification 20E034000 reports that if installed, the License Plate Light may aim rearward and not towards the License Plate as required. As such, this equipment fails to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”.
According to the NHTSA, a License Plate Light aimed toward other drivers may increase the risk of a crash, MVA or other impact event with consequential injury and/or life-changing results.
Maxon will notify the vehicle manufacturers who may, or may not, have used the Maxon provided License Plate Kit with Light and will provide a corrective kit as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin June 30, 2020. Maxon Customer Service may be contacted at +1-562-404-6727 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Pacific Standard Time (“PST”). Maxon’s designation for this recall is 211385-01.
