The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Tuna Salad products are subject to this recall:

  • Wegmans Tuna Salads, sold in 16 ounce (one (1) pound – 454 gram) containers with a sell-by date of 5/21/20 and a UPC of 2-77890-48147
  • Wegmans Tuna Salads on Roasted Tomato Pita, sold in 16 ounce (one (1) pound – 454 gram) containers with sell-by dates ranging from 5/14/2020 to 5/16/2020 and a UPC of 2-27390-00000
  • Wegmans Tuna & Provolone Packaged Subs, Medium size, sold in 11 ounce sandwiches with sell-by dates ranging from 5/14/2020 to 5/16/2020 and a UPC of 2-27031-00000
  • Wegmans Packaged Tuna & Provolone Wheat Wraps, sold in 9 ounce sandwiches with sell-by dates ranging from 5/14/2020 to 5/16/2020 and a UPC of 2-27303-00000

According to the FDA, Wegmans Food Markets recalls certain batch/lots of Wegmans branded Tuna Salad from the American marketplace due to suspected unidentified foreign matter contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Salad products identified above.

Please note: while these Salads products may be close to or past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products within the past two months, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.

In general, if bone, glass, metal, plastic and/or rubber fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Wegmans branded Tuna Salad, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Salads to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage.
