Among the sixty (60) recalls the NHTSA announced this past month came news of the following:

Logo - Yamaha Motor CorporationYamaha Motor Corporation, USA (“Yamaha”), a San Diego, California establishment and a subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Company of Iwata, Shizuoka, Japan, has recalled an estimated 3,116 model year 2015-2018 XC155 Scooters marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Engine and Engine Cooling – Insufficiently tightened Cylinder Head Nuts

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V277000 reports the Cylinder Head Nuts may not have been tightened properly and could loosen, allowing coolant to foul the spark plug.

According to the NHTSA, a fouled spark plug could cause the engine to stall at idle and possibly not restart, increasing the risk of a crash, MVA or other impact event with consequential injury and/or life-changing results.

Yamaha will notify registered owners and dealers will replace the cylinder head gasket and tighten the cylinder head nuts, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin May 29, 2020. Owners may contact Yamaha customer service at 1-800-962-7926 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Pacific Standard Time (“PST”). Yamaha’s designation for this recall is 990137.
