Logo - Navistar International CorporationNavistar International Corporation (formerly International Harvester Company) (“Navistar”), an Lisle, Illinois establishment, has recalled an estimated 2,805 model year 2019-2020 International CV vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electrical System – ABS Malfunction Indicator may not light as required in FMVSS 105

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V285000 reports that due to a software error, the Antilock Braking System (“ABS”) malfunction indicator does not light when there is a loss of communication between the vehicle’s Electronic Brake Control Module (“EBCM”) and the Body Control Module (“BCM”). As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (“FMVSS”) number 105, “Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems.”.

According to the NHTSA, if the malfunction warning does not light, the driver may not be unaware of an inoperative ABS or Automatic Traction Control (“ATC”) system, increasing the risk of a crash, MVA or other impact event with consequential injury and/or life-changing results.

Navistar will notify registered owners, and dealers will program the BCM software with a new calibration, free of charge. This recall is expected to begin June 19, 2020. Owners may contact Navistar Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar’s designation for this recall is 20505.
