UK FlagUK/London: Gima UK Ltd, formerly Basak (UK), a Barking, London, establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Lay’s branded Maxx Deep Ridged Oriental Salsa Flavoured Crisps from the British marketplace due to improperly declared Gluten, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Crisps are subject to recall:

  • Lay’s Maxx Deep Ridged Oriental Salsa Flavoured Crisps, sold in 130 gram black plastic bags with a best-before date of 26 June 2020

==> No barcodes, EANs, UPCs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the FSA, these Crisps contain Barley Gluten, an ingredient that is not declared in English on the product packaging. This reported defect makes it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to Barley Gluten.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Lay’s branded Maxx Deep Ridged Oriental Salsa Flavoured Crisps and could be allergic to their Barley Gluten ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
