Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Kmart Australia Ltd, a Mulgrave, Melbourne establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Chocolate and Caramel Egg Bags from the Australian marketplace due to suspected Plastic Fragment contamination and consequential risk of choking, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Chocolate and Caramel Egg Confectionery products are subject to this recall:

  • Solid and Filled Mixed Milk Chocolate Easter Eggs, sold in 360 gram bags with a best-before date of 12/02/2021
  • Caramel Filled Milk Chocolate Easter Eggs, sold in 160 gram bags with a best-before date of 12/02/2021

==> No barcodes, APNs, UPCs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the ACCC, this recall was initiated after it was reported that plastic fragments were found in the Chocolate and Caramel Easter Egg Confectionery products. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Chocolate and Caramel Confectionery identified above.

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.
