US FlagUS/Washington: Viva Doria, Inc., a Redmond, Washington establishment, recalls an estimated 520 bottles Viva Doria branded Essential Oil from the American marketplace due to suspected failure to meet US child resistant closure requirements under the US Poison Prevention Packaging Act and consequential risks of poisoning, ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

Additional information:
US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain bottles of Viva Doria branded Essential Oil, as follows:

  • Viva Doria branded Essential Oil, sold in 30 mL (1 fluid ounce) amber glass bottles with a UPC of 641990784039

Please consult the photograph above for details of the drug’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the CPSC, this recall was initiated because the products contain the drug Methyl Salicylate, a substance that must be sold and stored in child resistant packaging as required by the US Poison Prevention Packaging Act (“PPPA”). The packaging of the recalled the Wintergreen and Birch Essential Oil products, however, are not child resistant, posing a poisoning risk if the contents are swallowed by young children.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Viva Doria branded Essential Oil, please do not use them. Instead, immediately store the product in a safe location out of the reach of children and contact Viva Doria for a full refund. The firm or the retailer is said to be  notifying all known purchasers directly about the recall.
