US NHTSA Recalls: Porsche Cayenne Vehicles

Among the twenty eight (28) recalls the NHTSA announced this May comes news of the following:

Logo - Porsche Cars North America, IncPorsche Cars North America, Inc. (“Porsche”), a division of Porsche AG, a Stuttgart, Germany establishment and division of the Volkswagen Group has recalled an estimated 1,805 model year 2020 Cayenne vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Power Train – Transmission Oil Pipe May Leak

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V271000 reports an insufficient weld on a transmission oil pipe may cause the vehicle to leak automatic transmission fluid (“ATF”).

According to the NHTSA, if transmission fluid leaks while driving, the road surface may be made slippery, increasing the risk of a crash, MVA or other impact event with consequential injury and/or life-changing results.

Porsche will notify registered owners, and dealers will inspect the transmission oil pipe and replace it if necessary, free of charge. This recall is expected to begin July 10, 2020. Owners may contact Porsche Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche’s designation for this recall is ALA5.
