Recall Category: Seat Belts – Seat Belts Do Not Extend/FMVSS 208, 209

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V242000 reports that the seat belts in the recalled Motor Coaches may not extend from the retracted position, rendering the seat belt unusable. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (“FMVSS”) number 208, “Occupant Crash Protection,” and number 209, “Seat Belt Assemblies.”.

According to the NHTSA, inability to use the seat belt may increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash, MVA or other impact event.

MCI will notify the affected registered owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the seat belts, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin May 29, 2020. Owners may contact MCI Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-241-2947 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). MCI’s designation for this recall is SB 482.
