Canada/Ottawa: Logo - Hillside Products LtdHillside Products Ltd., a Surrey, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Pearl’s Perogies branded Homemade Style Perogies from the Canadian marketplace due to undeclared Tartrazine, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Perogie products are subject to this recall:

  • Pearl’s Perogies branded Homemade (Style) Perogies, Cheddar Cheese & Potato, sold in 600 gram packages; affected batch/lots: all packages where Tartrazine is not declared on the product label with a UPC of 0 62066 00010 3
  • Pearl’s Perogies branded Homemade (Style) Perogies, Bacon, Cheddar Cheese & Potato, sold in 600 gram packages; affected batch/lots: all packages where Tartrazine is not declared on the product label with a UPC of 0 62066 00090 5

According to the CFIA, Hillside Products has recalled certain batch/lots of Pearl’s Perogies branded Homemade Style Perogies from the Canadian marketplace due to undeclared Tartrazine.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Pearl’s Perogies branded Homemade (Style) Perogies and could be allergic to their Tartrazine ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
