US NHTSA Recalls: Denso Vehicle Fuel Pump

Among the eight (8) recalls the NHTSA announced this May comes news of the following:

Logo - Denso International AmericaDenso International America, a Southfield, Michigan establishment and subsidiary of Denso Corporation, of Kariya, Aichi, Japan has recalled an estimated 2,020,000 model year certain Vehicle Fuel Pumps marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Fuel System, Gasoline – Fuel Pump May Fail and Cause Engine Stall

NHTSA Safety Notification 20E026000 reports an impeller within the low pressure Fuel Pumps may crack and deform, potentially causing the Fuel Pumps to fail.

According to the NHTSA, if the Fuel Pumps fails, the engine can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Denso has notified the affected vehicle and aftermarket equipment manufacturers who will conduct recalls as necessary to replace the Fuel Pump. The recall schedule will be decided by the individual vehicle manufacturers.
