Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: The Kimchi Company, a Sydney, New South Wales establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of The Kimchi Company branded Kimchi from the Australian marketplace due to suspected microbial contamination and consequential risk of bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Kimchi Fermented Cabbage products are subject to this recall:

  • Kimchi Company Kimchi, sold in 300 gram glass jars with a UPC of 8809089 420158
  • Kimchi Company Kimchi, sold in 600 gram glass jars with a UPC of 8809089 420141

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the ACCC, this recall was initiated due to possible microbial contamination due to under-allocation of salt in the batch/lot production. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Kimchi Fermented Cabbage products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household rubbish, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession the recalled Kimchi Fermented Cabbage products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
