US FlagUS/Washington: Eiji Essentials Wintergreen Essential Oil Recall [US]Naturo Sciences, a Wilmington, Delaware establishment, recalls an estimated 1,200 bottles of Eiji Essentials Wintergreen Essential Oil from the American marketplace due to suspected failure to meet US child resistant closure requirements under the US Poison Prevention Packaging Act and consequential risks of poisoning, ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain bottles of Wintergreen Essential Oil products, are subject to this recall:

  • Eiji Essentials branded Wintergreen Essential Oil products sold in 5 mL amber glass bottles with black cap and red and black labels, a batch/lot designation of 6321C, the phrases, “Eiji”, “Wintergreen”,  and “100% Pure Essential Oil” and a UPC of 813006019729

Please consult the photograph above for details of the drug’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the CPSC, this recall was initiated because the product contains the drug Methyl Salicylate, a substance that must be sold and stored in child resistant packaging as required by the US Poison Prevention Packaging Act (“PPPA”). The packaging of the recalled Wintergreen Essential Oils is reportedly not child resistant, posing a poisoning risk if the contents are swallowed by young children.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Eiji Essentials branded Wintergreen Essential Oils please do not use them. Instead, immediately store the product in a safe location out of the reach of children and contact Naturo Sciences for a free replacement child resistant cap or a full refund. Naturo Sciences is contacting all known purchasers directly about this recall.
