Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Fruit Compote products are subject to this recall:

  • Tainy Boctoka Dry Fruits Mix Compot Apple, sold in 500 gram (17.63 ounce) clear plastic packages with a UPC of 4705932006197

According to the FDA, this recall was initiated after routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of undeclared Sulfites in the Tainy Boctoka Dry Fruits Mix Compot Apple products.

The consumption of ten (10) milligrams of Sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe allergic reactions in some people with Asthma. Anaphylactic Shock could occur in certain Sulfite-sensitive individual upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of Sulfites. Analysis of the Tainy Boctoka Dry Fruits Mix Compot Apple products fund these packages contained 34.4 mg per serving.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Fruit Compote product and could be allergic to their Sulfite ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
