US NHTSA Recalls: Subaru Ascent, Impreza, Legacy, Outback

Among the forty seven (47) recalls the NHTSA announced this April comes news of the following:

Logo - Subaru of AmericaSubaru of America, Inc. (“Subaru”), a Camden, New Jersey establishment and a subsidiary of Subaru Corporation of Japan, has recalled an estimated 188,207 model 2019 Subaru branded Impreza, Outback, Legacy and Ascent vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Fuel System, Gasoline – Fuel Pump May Become Inoperative/Engine Stall

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V218000 reports the low pressure fuel pump in the recalled vehicles may become inoperative

According to the NHTSA, if the low pressure fuel pump fails, the engine may stall without the ability to restart the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Subaru will notify registered owners, and dealers will replace the low pressure fuel pump, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin June 5, 2020. Owners may contact Subaru Customer Service toll-free at 1-844-373-6614 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). Subaru’s designation for this recall is WRD-20.
