Canada/Ottawa: Fromagerie Blackburn, a Jonquière, Quebec establishment, updates its existing recall certain batch/lots of Fromagerie Blackburn branded Le Mont-Jacob Semi-Soft Cheese from the Canadian marketplaceto include additional distribution information.

The original recall was initiated due to suspected of Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risk of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Cheese products are subject to this recall:

  • Fromagerie Blackburn branded Le Mont-Jacob Semi-Soft Cheese, sold in 130 gram packages with best-before date codes of 05JN20, 16JN20 and 25JN20 with a batch/lot designation of 20007, 20020 and 20028 with a UPC of 6 28504 56408 0
  • Fromagerie Blackburn branded Le Mont-Jacob Semi-Soft Cheese, sold in variable weight cheese wheels; affected best-before date codes: all products with a best-before date up to and including 15JN20 with a batch/lot designations of 20007, 20008, 20014, 20015,20016, 20020, 20021, 20022, 20028, 20036, 20042, 20043, 20044 and 20050 with a UPC of 6 28504 56403 5
  • Fromagerie Blackburn branded Le Mont-Jacob Semi-Soft Cheese, sold in variable weight packages; affected best-before date codes: all products sold up to and including April 5, 2020 with batch/lot designation listed and a UPC that begins with 0 200007

According to the CFIA, Fromagerie Blackburn has recalled certain batch/lots of Fromagerie Blackburn branded Le Mont-Jacob Semi-Soft Cheese from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected of Listeria monocytogenes contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Cheese products identified above.

The standard follow-up investigation has uncovered that the recalled Cheese wheels of Fromagerie Blackburn brand Le Mont-Jacob Semi-Soft Cheese may have been sold cut up and re-packaged, thus obliterating the original source manufacturer at the retail level. Consequently, if you are unsure if you have purchased the recalled Cheeses, please contact your retailer. When in doubt, throw it out or return it to the place of purchase for confirmation and refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Fromagerie Blackburn branded Le Mont-Jacob Semi-Soft Cheese products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
