US NHTSA Recalls: Subaru Crosstrek Sport Utility Vehicles

Among the thirty one (31) recalls the NHTSA announced this April comes news of the following:

Logo - Subaru of AmericaSubaru of America, Inc. (“Subaru”), a Camden, New Jersey establishment and a subsidiary of Subaru Corporation of Japan, has recalled an estimated 4,862 model 2019 Crosstrek SUVs with rear seat belt assemblies with a dual-mode locking mechanism. marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Seat Belts – Rear Seat Belt Assemblies May Not Lock As Intended

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V189000 reports the Seat Belt Webbing Sensor Locking Mechanism in the recalled vehicles may not lock as intended.

According to the NHTSA, in the event of a crash involving multiple impacts, the seat belt may not properly restrain the occupant, increasing the risk of injury.

Subaru will notify registered owners, and dealers will replace the rear seat belt assemblies, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 24, 2020. Owners may contact Subaru Customer Service toll-free at 1-844-373-6614 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). Subaru’s designation for this recall is WRC-20.
