US NHTSA Recalls: Bombardier BRP Can-Am Spyder Motorcycles

Among the twenty eight (28) recalls the NHTSA announced this April comes news of the following:

Logo - Bombardier Recreational ProductsBombardier Recreational Products (“Bombardier” or “BRP”), a Valcourt, Quebec, establishment, has recalled an estimated 1,407 model year 2020 Can-Am Spyder RT Motorcycles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Service Brakes, Hydraulic – Possible Loss of Braking

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V186000 reports during emergency braking situations, the support which holds the brake mechanism could break, causing a total loss of braking ability in the recalled Motorcycles.

According to the NHTSA, a loss of braking ability can increase the risk of a crash.

BRP will notify registered owners, and dealers will install a reinforcement bracket, free of charge. The recall began April 1, 2020. Owners may contact BRP Customer Service toll-free at 1-888-272-9222 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). BRP’s designation for this campaign is Bulletin 2020-5.
