UK FlagUK/London: Waitrose & Partners, a London, England establishment and a subsidiary of the John Lewis Partnership of Bracknell, Berkshire, recalls certain batch/lots of Waitrose N°1 Teacake products from the British marketplace due to suspected mislabeling and consequential undeclared Egg, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The UK Food Standards Agency (“FSA”) reports the following Teacake products are subject to recall:

  • Waitrose N°1 Teacakes, sold in two (2) unit packages with a best-before date of 07 April 2020

Please note: while these food products may be close to or past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products within the last year, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the FSA, Waitrose & Partners has recalled certain Waitrose N°1 Teacake sold in two (2) unit packages because they have been filled with a different product, a food product that contains Egg that is not declared on the label.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Teacakes and could be allergic to their Egg ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Teacakes, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Croissants to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-9-9, your closest hospital A&E or emergency centre equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
