Additional information:

Among the eleven (11) recalls the NHTSA announced this April comes news of the following:

Logo - Chrysler (FCA US LLC),Chrysler (FCA US LLC), an Auburn Hills, Michigan establishment and a subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV of Amsterdam, Netherlands has recalled an estimated 515 model year 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles that were marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Power Train – Front Differential Pinion Gears May Wear

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V183000 reports that the front differential in the recalled vehicles may have been assembled with pinion gears that are insufficiently hardened, which can lead to the gear teeth wearing down. If both pinion gears have their teeth sufficiently worn off, torque power can not be transferred from the front wheels to the driveline, resulting in loss of power while driving and loss of the PARK function when stationary.

According to the NHTSA, a sudden loss of power while driving or loss of the transmission PARK function can increase the risk of a crash.

Chrysler will notify registered owners, and dealers will replace the front differential, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin May 15, 2020. Owners may contact Chrysler Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-853-1403 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). Chrysler’s designation for this recall is W22.
