Among the ninety seven (97) recalls the NHTSA announced this past month came news of the following:

Logo - Navistar International CorporationNavistar International Corporation (formerly International Harvester Company) (“Navistar”), an Lisle, Illinois establishment, has recalled an estimated 13,570 model year 2019-2020 International LT and 2018-2021 International HX Trucks. marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

Recall Category: Exterior Lighting – Brake Lights may not work or may stay on

Logo - HX InternationalNHTSA Safety Notification 20V160000 reports that the brake light switch may have a weak solder joint in the recalled vehicles, possibly resulting in a poor electrical contact and inoperative brake lights or brake lights that stay on.

According to the NHTSA, inoperative brake lights or brake lights that stay on can cause confusion to other drivers on the road and increase the risk of a crash.

Navistar will notify registered owners, and dealers will replace the brake light switch, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin May 18, 2020. Owners may contact Navistar Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-448-7825 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Central Standard Time (“CST”). Navistar’s designation for this recall is 20501.
