Australia FlagAustralia/Canberra: Doonside Bargain Stores, a Doonside, New South Wales, establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Fishing Game Toys from the Australian marketplace due to suspected component detachment and consequential risk of choking, asphyxiation, oral injury, internal ingestion and GI tract laceration damage, all serious health and safety hazards.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (“ACCC”) reports the following Fishing Game Toys are subject to this recall:

  • Doonside Bargain Children’s Fishing Game Toys – a fishing game with magnet tips

==> No barcodes, APNs, UPCs or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the ACCC, the recalled Children’s Toys do not meet the requirements of Australia’s mandatory standard ‘Consumer Protection Notice No. 14 of 2003 – Consumer Product Safety Standard: Toys for children up to and including 36 months of age’. Specifically, the product may break and release small parts. If this defect occurs, it could release small parts that pose choking, asphyxiation and/or ingestion hazards for young children.

In general, if plastic or metal fragments are ingested, they could cut the mouth, stomach or other parts of the GI tract, cause intestinal perforation or serious infection and possibly require surgical intervention for their safe removal.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Children’s Toys, please do not let your child play with or near them. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.
