Canada/Ottawa: Logo - Save-On-FoodsSave-On-Foods, a division of Overwaitea Food Group, a Langley, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Save on Foods branded Plain Chocolate Croissants from the Canadian marketplace due to undeclared Hazelnuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Baked Goods are subject to this recall:

  • Save on Foods branded Plain Chocolate Croissants, sold in 320 gram four-packs; affected batch/lots: all packed-on date codes ranging from 2020 FEB 01 up to and including 2020 FEB 29 with a UPC of 0 062639 428730 and sold at Save-on-Foods, 2345 Beacon Ave., Sidney, British Columbia

According to the CFIA, Save-On-Foods has recalled certain batch/lots of Save on Foods branded Plain Chocolate Croissants from the Canadian marketplace due to undeclared Hazelnuts.

==> Please note: while these food products may be close to or past their use-by dates, they may be in your freezers or storage chillers. If you have purchased these products within the last year, please check your refrigerators, chillers and/or freezers to ensure these food products have not been stored for future consumption. If found, these products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for refund.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Save on Foods branded Plain Chocolate Croissants and could be allergic to their Hazelnut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
