US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Guan’s Mushroom Co., a Commerce, California establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Enoki Mushrooms from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risk of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Enoki Mushroom products are subject to this recall:

  • Enoki Mushrooms, product of Korea, sold in a 200 gram (~7.05 ounce), clear plastic bags with the description “Enoki Mushroom” printed in English, Korean and French, the Guan’s logo on the front, a package code 14-1 and a UPC of 859267007013. The recalled Mushrooms were shipped in white cardboard cases each containing 25 individual 200 gram plastic bags with a case code of 02473.

According to the FDA, Guan’s Mushroom Co. has recalled certain batch/lots of Enoki Mushrooms from the American marketplace due to suspected Listeria monocytogenes contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Mushrooms identified above.

The recalled Enoki Mushroom products are known to have been distributed in retail stores in California, New York and Pennsylvania by produce distributors and wholesalers.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Enoki Mushroom products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Mushrooms to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisoning such as Listeriosis.
