US FlagUS/Washington: Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corp. USA, a Lincoln, Nebraska establishment, recalls an estimated 80,000 Kawasaki MULE PRO Off-Highway Utility Vehicles (“ROVs”) due to suspected steering shaft failure and consequential risks of loss of vehicle control, crash, laceration, injury, concussion, death and property damage, all serious safely hazards.

Additional information:
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (“CPSC”) reports this recall involves certain 2015 through 2020 MULE PRO-FX, MULE PRO-FXR, MULE PRO-FXT and 2016 – 2020 MULE PRO-DX and MULE PRO-DXT Off-Highway Utility Vehicles, as follows:

The four wheel, Off-Highway Utility Vehicles were sold in black, green, white, red, bronze, silver, camo and blue color/styles. Each has side-by-side seating for three (3) to six (6) people and automotive style controls. The brand, “MULE PRO” can be found printed on the right and left front fender while the model name is printed on the right and left fender.

The vehicles were sold in either gas or diesel models and the diesel models have the word, “DIESEL” printed on the right and left rear of the cargo bed. The Vehicle Identification Number (“VIN”) can be found on the steel frame between the right front lower A-arm mounts.

According to the CPSC, incorrect joint assembly can cause steering control loss, posing crash and injury hazards. The firm has received 453 reports of incidents of steering problems.  No injuries have been reported.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat serious injuries such as lacerations, fracture and/or crush injuries.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles (“ROVs”), please do not use them. Instead, kindly contact an authorized Kawasaki dealer to schedule a free repair. Kawasaki is also contacting all known (i.e., registered) purchasers directly.
