Gitara branded Plastic Guitar Toy for Children sold with a type/model designation of 8838A, no listed batch/lot number but with a barcode/EAN/UPC of 6920107370711. The product consists of a small multi-colored plastic Guitar Toy designed for children that plays pre-recorded music.

No other designations, best-before date codes, manufacturing date codes, production dates, expiry dates, registration numbers, agency approval designations or other codes were listed with this recall.

The type of hazards presented in the recalled Gitara branded Plastic Guitar Toys include the reported findings that the battery compartment can easily be opened without the use of any tools and the small batteries inside extracted.

Due to this defect, a child playing with this Guitar Toy could open the compartment, extract the batteries and place them in his or her mouth. If this occurs, the child may swallow the small batteries or damage his mouth and/or teeth, causing choking or damage to the gastrointestinal tract.

As a result of these defects and their associated risks, these Gitara branded Plastic Guitar Toys do not comply with Europe’s Toy Safety Directive and requirements for child safety products, as well as the relevant European standards, EN 62115 and EN 71-1.

Consequently, a recall of these Plastic Guitar Toys and a withdrawal of the product from the European marketplace has been ordered.
