US NHTSA Recalls: Chevrolet Silverado & GMC Sierra Trucks

Among the thirty three (33) recalls the NHTSA announced this March comes news of the following:

Logo - General Motors LLCGeneral Motors LLC (“GM”), a Detroit, Michigan, establishment, has recalled an estimated 20,352 model year 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V116000 reports the bolts used to attach the front and/or rear brake calipers in the recalled vehicles may have not been heat treated and may break under load.

According to the NHTSA, broken caliper bolts can reduce brake performance or interfere with wheel rotation and increase the risk of a crash.

Logo - ChevroletGM will notify registered owners, and dealers will replace the brake caliper bolts, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 13, 2020. Owners may contact Chevrolet Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-222-1020 or GMC Customer Service toll-free at 1-866-522-9559 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Eastern Standard Time (“EST”). GM’s designation for this recall is N202294420.
