US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Sun Hong Foods, Inc., Montebello, California establishment, recalls all current batch/lots of Enoki Mushroom products from the American marketplace due to suspected risk of Listeria monocytogenes contamination and consequential risk of Gram-positive bacterial infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Enoki Mushroom products are subject to this recall:

  • Sun Hong Foods Enoki Mushroom products, sold in 7.05 ounce (200 gram) clear plastic bags with green panels with the brand, “Sun Hong Foods, Inc” printed on the package front and a UPC of 7 426852 625810

According to the FDA, Sun Hong Foods initiated this recall after samples of the product tested by the State of Michigan were found to be positive for Listeria monocytogenes. Further, the company is aware that sickened people may have consumed the recalled Mushrooms and are currently under investigation. Consequently, you should neither serve nor consume the recalled Enoki Mushroom products identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Enoki Mushroom products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the Mushrooms to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat bacterial poisonings such as Listeriosis.
