According to the CFIA, Centennial Foodservice has recalled certain batch/lots of Tuna YF Barrel Cut products from the Canadian marketplace due to elevated levels of Histamine. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled Fish products identified above.

Food contaminated with high levels of histamine may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Histamines are not destroyed by cooking. High levels of Histamines in Fish can cause an allergic-type reaction known as Scombroid Poisoning. Symptoms can include burning throat, diarrhea, dizziness, facial swelling, headache, vomiting and a peppery taste in mouth.

==> For information about Histamine poisoning, please consult the “Illnesses” tab on this site, located at the top of this page.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of the recalled Tuna YF Barrel Cut Fish products, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, kindly return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis and/or Scombroid Poisoning.
