Additional information:

Among the fourteen (14) recalls the NHTSA announced this March comes news of the following:

Logo - Ford Motor CompanyFord Motor Company (“Ford”), a Dearborn, Michigan establishment, has recalled an estimated 13,854 model year 2015-2016 F-150 Pick-up Trucks equipped with 3.5L GTDI engines and block immersion heaters that were potentially relocated from their originally installed location and marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V098000 reports that the incorrect location could put the heater too close to hot engine components in the recalled vehicles, possibly resulting in a damaged cable.

According to the NHTSA, a damaged cable could cause a resistive short, increasing the risk of overheated or melted wiring, increasing the risk of a fire.

Ford will notify registered owners, and dealers will inspect the block heater’s location and its cable, replacing components as necessary, free of charge. If the replacement parts are not available, dealers will disable the existing block heater cable from being used until parts become available. The recall is expected to begin April 6, 2020. Owners may contact Ford Customer Service toll-free at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s designation for this recall is 20S08.
