US NHTSA Recalls: Hyundai Sonata Vehicles

Among the ten (10) recalls the NHTSA announced this March comes news of the following:

Logo - Hyundai Motor AmericaHyundai Motor America (“Hyundai”), a Fountain Valley, California establishment and a subsidiary of Hyundai Motors of Seoul, South Korea, has recalled an estimated 206,896 model year 2013-2014 Hyundai Sonata vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V121000 reports that the low pressure fuel hose that connects the low pressure fuel pump to the direct injection fuel pump may crack over time due to heat generated within the engine compartment.

According to the NHTSA, if the fuel line cracks, a fuel leak can occur, increasing the risk of a fire.

The remedy for this recall is still under development. The recall is expected to begin April 24, 2020. Owners may contact Hyundai Customer Service toll-free at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai’s designation for this recall is 189.
