US NHTSA Recalls: Kia Optima Vehicles

Among the forty five (45) recalls the NHTSA announced this February comes news of the following:

Logo - Kia Motors AmericaKia Motors America (“Kia”), an Irvine, California establishment and a subsidiary of Kia Motors Corporation of Seoul, South Korea, has recalled an estimated 141,774 model year 2013-2014 Kia Optima vehicles equipped with 2.4L Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) or 2.0L GDI Turbo engines marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V100000 reports the low pressure fuel hose may deteriorate and crack over time due to heat generated within the engine compartment.

According to the NHTSA, if the fuel hose cracks, a fuel leak can occur, increasing the risk of a fire.

Kia Motors America (“Kia”), an Irvine, California establishment and a subsidiary of Kia Motors Corporation of Seoul, South Korea, has recalled an estimated 141,774 model year 2013-2014 Optima vehicles equipped with 2.4L Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) or 2.0L GDI Turbo engines marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.
