US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Vitamin Cottage Natural Food Markets, Inc., a Lakewood, Colorado establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Natural Grocers branded Almond Clusters Dark Chocolate from the American marketplace due to undeclared Peanuts and Milk, both known allergens, sources of dietary intolerance and possible triggers of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Chocolate products are subject to this recall:

  • Dark Chocolate Almond Clusters, sold in eight (8) ounce plastic tubs with packed-on dates ranging from 19-190 to 20-048 and a UPC of 0-00087-56208-8

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation. One (1) additional image of the recalled Peanut Clusters Dark Chocolate can be found on the Web site above.

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the FDA, the recalled Chocolate products were distributed to 157 Natural Grocers stores located in Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Chocolate products and could be allergic to their Peanut and/or Milk ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.
