US NHTSA Recalls: Mercedes-Benz & Freightliner Vehicles

Among the thirty four (34) recalls the NHTSA announced this February comes news of the following:

Logo - Daimler Vans USA, LLCDaimler Vans USA, LLC (“DVUSA”), a Portland, Oregon establishment and a subsidiary of Daimler AG of Stuttgart, Germany, has recalled an estimated 4,424 model year 2019 Mercedes Benz Sprinter and Freightliner Sprinter vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V078000 reports the connecting screws on the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (“EGR”) pipe may not have been correctly tightened in the recalled vehicles.

According to the NHTSA, if the connecting screws are not properly tightened, hot exhaust gases may leak from the EGR pipe, increasing the risk of a fire in he recalled Mercedes Benz Sprinter and Freightliner Sprinter vehicles.

DVUSA will notify registered owners, and Mercedes-Benz or Freightliner Sprinter dealers will renew the screw connection and the flange seals on the exhaust gas recirculation pipe, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin March 27, 2020. Owners may contact DVUSA Customer Service toll-free at 1-877-762-8267. DVUSA’s designation for this recall is VS3AGROHR.
