Ltd., a Heriot Bay, British Columbia establishment, recalls certain batch/lots of Sawmill Bay Shellfish branded Pacific Aquacultured Oysters from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Norovirus contamination and consequential risk of viral infection, severe illness and/or possible life-changing complications, all serious health hazards.

Additional information:
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) reports the following Aquacultured Oyster products are subject to this recall:

  • Sawmill Bay Shellfish branded Pacific Aquacultured Oysters, sold in the by the dozen, batch/lot designations of 453 and 454 with distribution to hotels, restaurants and institutions
  • Unbranded Pacific Aquacultured Oysters, sold variable count batch/lot; affected batch/lots: all Oysters sold from February 12 to 19, 2020, inclusively with distribution at Codfather’s Seafood Market, Kelowna British Columbia

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

According to the CFIA, Sawmill Bay Shellfish Co. has recalled certain batch/lots of Sawmill Bay Shellfish branded Pacific Aquacultured Oysters from the Canadian marketplace due to suspected Norovirus contamination. You should neither serve nor consume the recalled shellfish identified above.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat viral poisonings such as Norovirus.
