US FlagUS/Silver Spring: Save A Lot, a St. Ann, Missouri establishment, recalls an estimated 131 cases of Coburn Farms branded Sharp Yellow Cheddar Cheese, Cherry Juice-Infused Dried Cranberries & Roasted Sea Salted Cashews Snackers from the American marketplace due to suspected mislabeling/mispackaging and consequential undeclared Peanuts, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The US Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) reports the following Cheddar Cheese Snackers are subject to this recall:

  • Coburn Farms branded Sharp Yellow Cheddar Cheese, Cherry Juice-Infused Dried Cranberries & Roasted Sea Salted Cashews Snackers made by Great Lakes Cheese Co. Inc. of Hiram, Ohio and sold in 4.5 ounce packages with a use-by date of April 24, 2020 and a UPC of 51933-36243

According to the FDA, the recall was initiated after it was discovered that certain of the Snackers contain Peanuts, which, while visible through the packaging and identified on the top label of the individual Snackers tray, were not declared on the formal ingredient statement.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Coburn Farms branded Cheddar Cheese Snackers and could be allergic to their Peanut ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them directly nor use them as an ingredient in another dish or preparation. Instead, return the product to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure neither small children nor household pets can access the suspect food.
