US FlagUS/Washington: Family Traditions Meat Company, an Ackley, Iowa establishment, recalls an estimated 270 pounds of ready-to-eat (“RTE”) Arcadia Meats branded Beef Stick products from the American marketplace due to undeclared Milk, a known allergen, source of dietary intolerance and possible trigger of Anaphylaxis, a serious and potential fatal situation, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Additional information:
The United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) reports the following Beef Stick products were produced on November 14, 2019, December 3, 2019 and January 6, 2020 and are subject to this recall:

  • Arcadia Meats branded Smoked Beef Sticks Original, sold in 3-ounce and 6-ounce vacuum-packed packages with batch/lot designations of 31819, 33719 or 00620

==> No barcodes, UPCs, item numbers or other identification numbers were listed with this recall notification.

Please consult the photograph above for details of the food’s packaging, design and retail presentation.

According to the USDA, the Beef products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 46538” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were known to be shipped to retail locations in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

The problem was discovered by a compliance officer with the Iowa Department of Agriculture during in-commerce surveillance activities at a retail store.

If you believe you have purchased or have in your possession any of these recalled Beef Stick products and could be allergic to their Milk ingredients, have a close family member who is allergic or has previously experienced Anaphylaxis or are unsure of your allergy status, please do not consume them. Instead, return the product to the distributor or wholesaler where you purchased it for a full refund.

==> Never depend on your senses of sight, smell, taste or touch to confirm food poisoning, adulteration or contamination. If in doubt about the safety of any food, return it to your retailer for refund or toss it out in your household garbage, making sure small children and pets can’t access the suspect food.

==> If you have a medical emergency, please contact 9-1-1, your closest hospital or emergency center equipped to properly treat Anaphylaxis.

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (“FSIS”) is concerned some of these recalled Beef Stick products may be in your refrigerators or freezers or both. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
