Among the ten (10) recalls the NHTSA announced this February comes news of the following:

Logo - Hyundai Motor AmericaHyundai Motor America (“Hyundai”), a Fountain Valley, California establishment and a subsidiary of Hyundai Motors of Seoul, South Korea, has recalled an estimated 429,686 model year 2006-2011 Hyundai Elantra and 2007-2011 Hyundai Elantra Touring vehicles marketed, sold and delivered in the United States.

NHTSA Safety Notification 20V061000 reports that moisture may enter the Anti-lock Brake (“ABS”) Module and result in an electrical short.

According to the NHTSA, an electrical short within the ABS Module may cause an engine compartment fire, even when the car is turned off, increasing the risk of an injury.

Hyundai will notify registered owners, and dealers will install a relay in the vehicle’s main junction box to prevent the risk of an ABS short-circuit while the car is turned off, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 3, 2020. Owners may contact Hyundai Customer Service toll-free at 1-855-371-9460 during normal business hours, Monday to Friday, Pacific Standard Time (“PST”). Hyundai’s designation for this recall is 188.
